September 2008

I think I am reluctant to let summer go this year.  Most days still feel like summer here in CA.  These fun pictures were taken on our vacation to Disneyland in August.  Here are the kids at Castaway Cove water feature at our hotel.  They had a blast!  We took time out every day for them to enjoy this area.  I love the bright colors- this is all KI Memories.

I am already working busily on Maya Road CHA-W projects, but as you know I can’t show you any of those until January!  What a long wait that will seem to be.  Maya Road will be introducing a fun holiday contest next week with amazing prizes, so check in here or on the Maya Road Company Blog - or both for details.

My friend Kim and I have been having our own Becky Fleck challenge on a weekly basis.  Every week we are randomly choosing a sketch from her new book Page Maps.  Our sketch this week is on page 42.  If you haven’t seen her pagemaps before, you should take a look at pagemaps.com.  I LOVE her sketches.  She posts new ones every month.  Lots of new Maya Road in this weeks layout- notice the Trinkets jewel pins, jewel flowers, brackets chipboard, felt blossoms, brown and cream calendar sheer (A Year to Remember) and cupcake chipboard.  I also used Chloe Marie paper by Daisy D’s, Art Glitter and American Crafts Thickers.

My beautiful girl turns 5 today.  Happy Birthday, Lauren!

Well I am pretty much glued to my TV right now watching IKE.  I think the flooding is going to be massive.  My thoughts are with all of those people.  I can tell you that if I lived in Galveston, there is no way I would still be there and many people are.  A computer model on CNN showed a 15 ft surge puts most of Galveston under water and they expect 15-25ft.  WOW!

At Disneyland in August, what Lauren wanted most was to meet the princesses.  Her favorite is Cinderella.  We stood in line to meet tham.  You are guaranteed to take pictures with 3 of them, but you never know which ones will be there because they constantly rotate.  We were lucky enough to get Cinderella, Snow White and Pocahontas.  We also had her hair done in “Princess Hair” and we watched the show.  I love this picture.  I wanted to make a special layout and I am happy with how it came out.  The paper line is Chloe Maire by Daisy D’s.  I sewed the background paper to the cardstock.  Also, used Maya Road sheer flowers (covered in alcohol ink by Ranger), trinket blossoms, scrolls II chipboard, journaling sheers, chipboard crown, chipboard frame (cut and covered in crackle paint by Ranger) and chipboard alpha covered in new Maya Mists.  I also used Making Memories, Stickles by Ranger,Prima, beads, Glossy Accents by Ranger, Carolee’s Creations alpha stickers, and leaves.  The journaling is a verse from “If You Can Dream” from the Disney Princesses.

Lauren has been sick with a cold for the last week.  She is getting better, slowly.  I thought I would get by without getting it this time, but I’m getting it.  I’m trying to get as much of her birthday stuff finished as I can before her party.  She turns 5 next Friday and she is very excited.  I hope everyone has a happy weekend.

Well I picked up the Martha Stewart butterfly punch this weekend.  It’s very cute.  I had lots of fun working on this layout yesterday.  I love it when an idea just comes to me.  Most of the time it’s a lot of work to plan things.  I used Chloe Marie pp by Daisy D’s.  The sheer, chipboard alpha and rub ons are Maya Road.  The pebbles and small flowers are from a RAK by a good friend of mine, Kim.  The letter stickers are Adorn It by Carolee’s Creations.  I love these little letters for journaling right now.  I have tons of them in all different colors.  The chipboard letters are covered in ink by ColorBox and Glossy Accents by Ranger.  I also used a Heidi Swapp frame cut in half for photo corners.  When I was finishing this page up, I thought it needed something else and I asked the kids and they agreed.  The specific owl and scroll (used for a tree branch) rub-ons were their idea.
