May 2008

My cousin came to take care of my kids last weekend, so Brad and I could go to Half Moon Bay for the weekend.  We are celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary on June 27th.  We had a nice relaxing time.  The weather was unusually warm for this time of year on the coast and it was just perfect weather.  I took some beautiful pictures.  This top one here was our view from a cement bench we were relaxing on at the marina.  I just love to sit and look at the boats.  I feel really lucky to live so close to the ocean.  We love going to the beach.  This is further up the coast than we normally go, but it was fun to explore a new place.

I’d like to post some new projects, but they are for CHA-S.  I am spending a lot of time on those right now and I will be posting them in July once the show begins.

These are the last two cards that I made for the National Stationary Show that Maya Road is attending right now in New York.  The paper line for all 6 of the cards that I made is Wild Saffron by K&Co.  I love those papers.  They all coordinate well, yet you can get some different looks with them.  This “hi” card that I made was also featured in the latest Maya Road Newsletter.  You can check that out here:  There are card ideas from several of the Maya Road DT members.   Happy Monday!

The kit spotlight for May is on Little Red Scrapbook.  I have had my eye on this one for a long time.  I love how well put together their kits are.  They aren’t too big either.  If you want to you can even grab an add-on like the stamps or embellishments.  This month they have the new line by SEI called Dill Blossom, which I LOVE.  You also get a full lunchbox tin of Maya Road Chipboard Trees and MR Trinkets Blossoms.  I don’t endorse any of the kit clubs, I just drool over many of them and I like to mention the ones that I REALLY like.  :)

Hope you all had a nice Mother’s Day.  Thought I would post another of my projects for the upcoming National Stationary Show that Maya Road will be attending. I made this to showcase some pictures of my James when he was a new baby. The paper line is Boxer by BasicGrey. I also used MR chipboard alpha, ribbon, chipboard crown, rub-ons and scallop frames.  I also used ink and glitter.  I just inked around the edges of the coasters and added the perfect sized circles.  I like how you can just make out the scallops of the coasters.

Happy Mother’s Day all of you wonderful Mother’s.  I hope you are enjoying your day.  I enjoyed sleeping in this morning and my DH and kiddos brought me a little sweet treat in bed.  I also got flowers, a huge balloon, cards, homemade gifts from the kids and a necklace.  I thought I would post 2 more of the cards that I made for the National Stationary Show since one of them is so fitting.

Here is another one of my Maya Road projects for the National Stationary Show.  The is the MR People Chipboard (Girl) book.  It was a lot of fun to “dress” the pages.  I chose photos of Lauren’s 1st birthday party.  The patterned paper line is Sultry by BasicGrey.

In my house this weekend, DH said it is Mother’s Day on both days!  WooHoo!  He has taken the kids and I get some mommy time.  We get to go on a date tonight too!  That doesn’t happen very often, so I am very excited.  Tomorrow we plan on a relaxing day at the beach.  Hope all the Mommy’s are having a pampered and special weekend.

Well I finally get to post some of the projects I have been working on over the last month that are for the National Stationary Show.  Maya Road will have a booth there for the 1st time, so here are 2 of the cards that I made using Maya Road chipboard, rub-ons and ribbon.   The patterned paper is the Wild Saffron Collection from K&Co.

Also, Maya Road and 2 Peas are having a contest to take your album to CHA-S.  They will be choosing 2 albums from the 2 Peas gallery on or around May 15th.  The deadline to enter is Sunday, May 11th.  Please make sure to mark the box for the contest when uploading your project to the 2 Peas gallery.  All you have to do is design a Maya Road mini album.  Here are the details: http://twopeasinabucket.kaboose.com/userblogpost.asp?id=38096.  The winners will have their Maya Road albums displayed in the Maya Road booth at CHA-S in Chicago and receive a $100 prize package.  :)

I’ve been creatively busy lately.  I keep finding something else that I want to work with.  I love these new Heidi Grace papers. Aren’t they adorable?  I thought they would be so cute with my MR heart and home chipboard and a “Home Sweet Home” sign. I also added MR birds of a feather beads to the ribbon, pp behind the clear buttons, MR Trinkets blossom, MR chipboard alpha, Glimmer Mist, and some bling. I added fun block to my little purple house.  That was the 1st time I had used that and it was fun.  I like the texture.  The sign is made from a MR 8×8 chipboard binder page.

How did you spend National Scrapbook Day?  I scrapped a chunk of the day and this is what I made.  This is a 2 ring large layer book from Maya Road.  The papers are from a new company called Graphic 45.  Love the vintage feel, so I made this book with sepia pics.  I sewed, inked and distressed all of the pages.  Lots of MR chipboard, felt and ribbon.  I also added some bling, some 7Gypsies rub-ons, Glimmer Mist and Heidi Swapp.  I love how each of the pages are different sizes.  Makes it fun, with lots of room the further along you get in the book.  Happy Sunday!

The new Maya Road website has launched.  Check it out at http://www.mayaroad.net.  You can browse around the creative corner for ideas and directions to some really cute projects.  You can also find and order products and find templates for many of their mini books.  Happy May Day!
